Kamigoto Performance Series

KAMIGOTO (神事), a Japanese term referring to sacred ritual rooted in an animistic worldview, is an ongoing collaborative performance series that explores how ritual shapes relationships between people, materials, and the environment through sculpture, performance, sound, food, and collective action. Each iteration is developed in response to a specific site and in collaboration with artists from diverse disciplines.

Rather than reenacting tradition, KAMIGOTO approaches ritual as a living process through which culture is continually produced and transformed. The performances examine how everyday acts of making, preparing, cooking, cultivating, repairing, maintaining, and sharing shape relationships between people, materials, memory, and the environment.
Working with natural materials, found and handcrafted objects, food, movement, voice, and sculptural installations, each performance unfolds as a temporary ecosystem. Here, ritual emerges not as a fixed cultural inheritance, but as an evolving practice of attention, reciprocity, and coexistence.
